Saturday
Palermo
Transfer to your hotel in Palermo, check-in and the rest of day is
at leisure. Later you will meet your tour leader and enjoy a welcome
dinner at a local restaurant.

Monreale - Winery at Jato Valley
Our first tour starts with a visit to the Monreale Duomo, built in 1174
by William II the magnificent art and architecture to be found here is
the pinnacle of the Arab-Norman era. The inside is decorated with
beautiful mosaics and 24-carat gold. After a short drive through the
picturesque countryside we arrive in Valle dello Jato, here we are going
to visit a winery. This wine making region uses particular vines such as
Catarratto, Grillo, Viognier, Chardonnay and rich flavoured Merlot and
Syrah for the reds. We will have lunch at the winery and sample some of
the locally produced wines. After lunch we continue to the town of Custanaci.
Here we will check-in and enjoy a light dinner at the hotel.

Monday
Erice - Olive Oil Factory & Cooking
After breakfast we will visit the Medieval town of Erice, which is
located on a high plateau and commands magnificent views of the region.
A stop at a local pastry shop is included to taste typical marzipan and
almond pastries and biscuits, these recipies have been passed down many
generations. You will also have free time to explore this delightful
medieval town. During our tour today we will also experience a nice
country type cooking lesson and visit an Olive Oil factory. You will
first meet your country chef and tour the olive oil factory. Your chef
will teach you how to prepare some typical recipes which are typical
from the province of Trapani such as "Cous Cous di pesce" and
"Involtini alla Siciliana". You will assist and prepare the
different dishes for your own lunch. We return to our hotel for our
overnight stay, your evening is at your own leisure.

Tuesday
Salt Way Road - Marsala - Menfi Winery
After breakfast we continue our tour with our first to Marsala, en
route passing the Salt Way Road where you can admire the saline saltpans
and the great windmills. Marsala is home of the world famous Marsala
Wine and is of course the main area for wine production in Sicily. A
lunch stop before we visit a winery in a local trattoria to taste
typical local dishes such us Pasta alla Trapanese with fresh
tomatoes. After lunch we will tour a local winery. Sicilian Baglio
Winery, an important winery that has always believed in the
extraordinary ecological potential of its land and has many years of
experience in producing premium wines. Here, you will taste a variety of
white and red wines during our afternoon tour. We continue onto
Agrigento where will be staying for the night.
In the evening you will experience a panoramic tour of the Temples
Valley, a unique and stunning view of the temples as we tour the
perimter of this amazing ancient site.

Wednesday
Sant'Angelo Muxaro - Pizza & Bread Cooking
After breakfast we will enjoy a day trip to the remote village of
Sant'Angelo Muxaro in the interior parts of the Agrigento region. You
will enjoy a scenic drive along an inner road with many bends and
twists, through hills and distant mountains. (On a clear day you can
even see Mt Etna, about 140 miles away!). The village is perched on hill
overlooking the Platani river. Upon arrival, meet Mamma Concetta at her
private country-home and learn how to prepare Pizza and Bread. Enjoy a
light lunch based on Sicilian pizzas, "Pane Cunzatu" (fresh home -made
bread dressed with olive oil and pepper) and pecorino cheese. After
lunch we will visit the piazza of this quaint town to view some of the
local shops and see the local craftsmen making the traditional straw
fruit baskets. After some free time we return to Agrigento for our
overnigtht stay.

Thursday
Piazza Armerina - Caltagirone
Departure to Piazza Armerina, in
the middle of Sicily, to see the Roman Villa (3rd, 4rth century A.D.) at
Casale with its 3.500 square metres of mosaic flooring giving an insight
into the Roman way of living.
You will free time for lunch.
Our tour continues to Caltagirone which is popular for the production of
ceramics, in particular hand made products. You will have the
opportunity of discovering the ancient method used to produce ceramics
and walk up (or down) the infamous 142 ceramic steps of 'Scala S. Maria
del Monte'. You will also have time for some shopping here.
This evening we will be staying in the baroque town of Ragusa and we
will have dinner at a local trattoria to enjoy the local Ravioli all
Ragusa.

Friday
Ragusa - Chocolate in Modica - Noto
After breakfast we depart to the historical centre of Ragusa. Ragusa
along with nearby Noto and Modica are UNESCO Heritage Cities of Sicily
and our walk into the centre of Ragusa which is known as the capital of
Sicilian Baroque is evidence of this. After tour of Ragusa we proceed to
Modica. Chocolate lovers prepare yourself for the most famous of
Sicilian Chocolate, prepared with an ancient and original Aztec recipe.
You will be treated to a chocolate making and tasting demonstration, a
unique opportunity to have an insight to the famous Chocolate of Modica!
We continue with our tour and our next stop is lunch at a local
restaurant. In the afternoon we drive onto the pretty of Noto. The
delightful and pleasent town is popular for its honey colored buildings,
typical of the early eighteenth century. Here you will have free time to
explore the piazza, local shops or just relax and unwind in the pretty
setting. This evening we will be staying in Catania.

Taormina - Etna Farm & Winery
Our final day of touring includes some of Sicily's more famous and well
known attractions. Our first stop is a visit to the beautiful
mountain
town of Taormina which is located on the east coast. Taormina or
otherwise know as the pearl of the Ionic Sea is famous for the
wonderfully located Greek Theatre and quaint streets which are lined
with small boutiques and curiosity shops. In the afternoon we will be
visiting a farm in the heart of the Etna region. Mount
Etna, the largest volcano in Europe and one of the most active in the
world is not only a unique attraction, is also provides a stunning
backdrop and for the locals the lava terrain and minerals make this
region special for growing particularly good products and vines. The
wines produced in this area are really unique and different from any
other Sicilian wine. We proceed to a local winery
where delicous snacks and cocktails, together with wine have been
prepared for you. This is our way of saying farewell.
