Godfather (Corleone) & Piana degli Alabanesi Itinerary
This is fabulous and very different tour. Lovers of the famous
‘Godfather' and other similar movies are in for a treat on this tour
when we visit the heart of where the Mafia first began in the 1960's.
Some of the well know clans even had their headquarters here, these
where known as Clan dei Corleonesi. If you
have seen the original
movie, you may recognise the name 'Corleone' which was the adopted
surname of the main character in Francis Ford Coppola's movie 'The
Godfather'. The town is very pretty and you will have ample time to look
around and meet the very friendly locals. After our visit to Corleone we
proceed with a tour to Piana degli Albanesi. This town was founded by
Albanian refugees between the 16th and 18th centuries. Besides
handicraft products such as golden embroideries, puppets in
Albanian-costume, icons, painting on cloth and artistic pottery articles
the locals from this village are renowned for their typical and popular
variety of cannoli which are known to be much bigger than normal.
